I'm standing at the brink
of a cold, dark, still river
of it's water I shall soon drink
I'll soon stand before lifes' giver
The view hidden by shadows and fog
a precise vision I cannot obtain
before into its waters I slog
eternity too soon to gain
Only by faith can I trust in eternal life
being dissolved of this earthly strife
into its chill I'll step without choice
all at the call of death angels' voice
Oh! I joyfully shout "Hearken!"
for soon I'll pass the gates of heaven
and I strenuously cling to His hand
for now, it's At The River I Stand
