Our pitiful human nature it seems
with inabilities compounded by age
hopes and dreams just flow away as a stream
and we calm ourselves with that ages old adage
. . . it just ain't fair: instead of clearing the sinful baggage
Ourselves do we seldom blame
it's our age; by our excuses unshamed
circumstances which should knock us to our knees
are easily explained away, our own wills untamed
life you see . . . just ain't fair - we whine and complain
But the perspective from our little human side
tends to convince us by overwhelming tide
multiple waves of problems every day
making it impossible to simply look away
so we just shrug it away; life . . . just ain't fair we say
But another old adage truthfully goes
"joyful is the man with nothing left to lose"
it often takes the thorn of loss to see the rose
wallowing in pride and the 'self pity blues'
we explain - . . . life just ain't fair - and then again, we snooze
The whole view comes into focus
when we see from a different perspective
our lack of understanding yields easy prognosis
but it's hard to see truth if your facts are defective
everyone's to blame but me 'cuz . . . life just ain't fair
And, it's a true saying!
especially when we give into carnal craving
like a fool we go on behaving
never once even considering
our potential cuz, 'you know . . . life just ain't . . . "
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just a look
is all you need from the Book
it's easily seen we're on the blessed side of life
not one of us wore a crown of thorns for someone elses strife
We'd have been cast us into hell eons ago . . . if life was fair
But He died to give us freedom and life
from heavy bondage and heavy strife
if you want understanding, it's through His precepts
we can't comprehend thru human concept
God is a just God, . . . . life ain't fair - but just!
Our fears and ideas blur together becoming bitter rage
when we experience loss
and shown our own page
we're forced to consider the cost
and easily see God didn't treat us fair . . .
It is us, that should have hung on the cross
it is our mental make up that is nothing but dross
And He will put us through the fire,
make us a brand new creature
then we'll really be able to see how 'Life . . . Just Ain't Fair
God never said life was fair . . .
. . . He only said life was worth it.
