The Eagle
Our Enemies Can't Swim

Sometimes I'm prone to grumble and complain
of lifes problems, troubles and pain
seldom realizing many are much worse off
wondering why this troublesome trough

As human, if I but for a few seconds allow
self-pity then I'm blinded as to how
God has cared for and carried me through
many hardships and troubles; not just a few

My mind goes back to Israel stopped at the sea
dust of Pharoahs' approaching army they see
deep waters of trouble lay just ahead
soon: they thought, they'd all be dead

Like us, the humans they were
between themselves began to confer
did God bring us out here just to die
our carcassases on the desert to rot and lie

There's no possible way out of this mess
their weakness to cope they did confess
but Moses raised his hand and God the waters parted
and it's easy now to see: their way He'd charted

It's the same for us, the Way He's made
if we by faith into the waters simply wade
He through troubled waters guides us to Him
because He knows: Our Enemies Can't Swim.
