Turn To The Lamb

Social Security, Welfare, FEMA programs
all benefits of good ol' Uncle Sam
seems when the Donkey and Elephant has let us down
the last place we turn is to the Lamb

We tend to forget the blessings and heritage
just follow along as did our parentage
whatever happened to that good old American speak
get a job, if you don't work, you don't eat

As long as we're getting by on little or nothing
certainly not on the Lord trusting
if mom or dad or the government kicks in
we're not really even thankful and certainly not chagrin

But let the times get hard
and one can't lean on their pard
then are kicked out into the backyard
and from the welfare stores we're barred

Perhaps it's time to get on our knees
we're sometimes embarrassed to say "please"
but the cost for beans is way over our fees
we're stuck outside, our shelter merely trees

When you're sick and left without a share
then turn to the One Who is always there
should have been trusting Him all along
storing up points before things go all wrong

Because it's a fact, when your hopes and means are all gone
call on God and He can put into your heart a new song
cuz when you need them, they'll let you down
don't depend on Uncle Sam, Turn To The Lamb
