In my minds' eye I sometimes dream
of how it was in this beautiful land
of a place that would come to be
called America, its beauty grand
What did the Indians see
when weird dressed people came from the sea
friendly at first winning their confidence
then lives and lands taken with the lance
What did the Indians think while being disarmed
for their 'own safety;' hunting for food barred
how the Cavalry soldiers came from the East
killing man, woman, child and beast
How the Indians starved and bled
all the while depending on what the government said
killing, maiming, driven from ancestoral lands instead
to 'Indian Territory,' forcefully along the Trail of Tears led
Then my mind returns to present day
through government mandates they lay
taxes, rules, continually stronger and louder each day
rendering to naught the good ol' American way
To history, themselves writing and directing the blight
planning a New World order, now coming into sight
destroying all our God given rights
disabling well in advance our ability to fight
Trampling our banner into blood soaked earth
and the Constitution by which this country was birthed
seeing our lives and for all we've worked through the years
our families, friends and livelihoods reduced to tears
I wonder what does the indigenous American Indian now feel
knowing history repeats, our dreadful future sealed
do they understand much better and much more than we
ancestors of ours, their forbears, killed in shooting spree
Now coming round again, back in full circle
live by the sword, die by the sword the Word insists
the coming storm clouds gathering to enswirl
the rattling sabre to destroy our will to resist
What do they know, can by experience foretell
of the coming takeover, the genocide and massacre hell
is it really any difference in legend or lore
I wonder, what the Indians saw before?
