Standing on the banks of the Jordan River
Elisha smote the waters asking for the Life Giver
and the waters stood up, the ground was dry
banks of water on each side, clear and blue as the sky
What was it like walking in the midst?
was there in the air even a mist?
or was it a hallway free and perfectly clear
through which he could pass without any fear?
Could he see fish swimming in the water?
was it moving back and forth as the tide
looking as if any second it might slaughter
or walled up straight up on each side?
How much faith does it take to walk where God leads
when we ask for a miracle and ahead of us, He proceeds
preparing for us the way to travel through
reaping His harvest, filling church pews
Many times we ask amiss
not realizing we're asking for bliss
not willing to put forth the labor
to beat back the enemy with the Words sabre
He prepares for us a way to go through
most times, not our ideas does He use
so one by one we miss what He prepares
giving precedence to lifes simple cares
Oh! That our eyes could be opened
to see like Elisha saw, to not just be hopin'
that a way through He will make
simply depend on His great Name in faith!
God help us to never live beneath our means
when before us, the way has been cleaned
help us never to bemoan or look from the task
When for us He rolls the water back . . .
