Who was He who died that night?
accused, abandoned, left to fend for Himself
beaten, slapped, shamefully crucified
sealed in a borrowed tomb of others' wealth
Guilty of nothing but love
caring for others, gentle as a dove
feeding, healing, teaching, sins forgiving
those around about, for souls reaching
As He journeyed on His day,
being human, needing sustenance to go His way
by way of that, kept His identity hidden
all the while healing the bedridden
"When you see Me, you see the Father"
He taught His disciples many times
still knowing not Who He was, walking on water
stilling the storm, personna sublime
Some called Him Messiah
others called Him prophet
still others called Him Isaiah
others didn't care, seeing in Him profit
His disciples when inquired proclaimed
this one, or that one, not knowing of His Name
but Peter said "Thou art the Christ,"
not knowing He'd soon be sacrificed
Before dying, John the Baptist sent men asking
are you the Messiah, or for another be looking?
Go back and tell John what you behold
Jesus instructed the men of old
John rejoiced at the news
as the men spoke of healing,
men leaping, blind seeing
sins forgiving
John then knew for certain Jesus' true identity
filled with the HolyGhost from his mothers womb
lost his life that night freed from life's penalty
his head delivered to Herod, headless body entombed
The truth of the matter is simply this:
Jesus Christ was nothing less
than Almighty God in human flesh
ulterior motive to let man start afresh
Gods' plan was to reconcile
man back to Himself
after his fall from grace
God - redeemed man back to his place
To provide washing and cleansing
God used a Lamb, of perfect blood
from sin completely wash and expel
to redeem us all back to Himself
