Just one more dance, just one more fling
and he took another pull from that filthy thing
Distracted for just one moment with senses dulled
into the oncoming lane, his pickup he pulled
One instant breathing, the next instant gasping
into cold waters of death he was lapsing
The next instant bowing before God
brilliance that, of a charged lightening rod
The book was opened, for his name the angel sought
it says your salvation by Jesus was bought
but it's not found in the Book of Life
the angel shook his head, the sentence sharp as a knife
In desperation the man on his knees pleaded woefully
bowed before God, shaking uncontrollably
arriving at this appointed meet unexpectedly
backslidden, unready, he begged apologetically
"Lord, please give me one more chance,
I only wanted one more dance
just one more spin around the block
if you'll give me another chance, for you I'll walk"
The man wept and prayed, hoping for just one more day
to make things right with God, and change his ways
He'd walk for Him upright and pure
just give him one more night, he assured
Re-living his life as it passed before his eyes
laid bare and open, his sins, his rebellion and his lies,
Screaming aloud, he cried all the more
The Lord simply said "You've Promised Before . . ."
